Dr Lucy Weaving

Dr Lucy Weaving is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). With 18 years of post-qualification experience in the NHS, she has also spent several years working in private practice, specialising in Autism and ADHD assessments. Lucy is deeply committed to supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities and Neurodivergence, as well as their surrounding systems.

Throughout her career, Lucy has maintained a strong interest in understanding and supporting those who perceive and experience the world through a neurodivergent lens. She is particularly passionate about advocating for individuals who face discrimination and marginalisation.

Her areas of special interest include working with autistic individuals, people with ADHD and their families, members of marginalised and minority communities—including refugees and migrants—individuals with learning disabilities, and survivors of domestic violence and trauma. Lucy also has a particular focus on addressing communication barriers, especially when working with individuals for whom English is a second language, those who are hearing impaired, or people with communication and sensory difficulties.

Lucy is experienced in delivering a range of tailored assessments, including those for Autism, ADHD, functional behaviour, psychometrics, and capacity to consent. She is dedicated to developing holistic and meaningful diagnostic formulations that reflect the individual’s developmental history, life experiences, and systemic influences.

She has specialised in working with children and adults with learning disabilities and neurodivergence within both Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Specialist Adult Services. Her expertise lies in both assessment and therapeutic intervention for psychological challenges, particularly in the context of Autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.

Recently, Lucy has been focused on supporting children and their networks around the emotional regulation challenges often associated with Autism and ADHD. She is trained in Autism assessment for both children and adults and has extensive experience in delivering NICE-compliant diagnostic assessments. Lucy’s approach is person-centred, neuroaffirmative, and compassionate. Her goal is to ensure that individuals and their support networks understand the individual’s strengths and difficulties so that support can be tailored accordingly.

In addition to her clinical work, Lucy holds a diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and has undertaken further training in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), ADHD, and clinical supervision. She has provided supervision in NHS settings and consultation services in both NHS and private practice settings. Lucy also has a growing interest in the intersection of hormones, mental health, and neurodivergence—particularly in relation to perimenopause and menopause—and is committed to advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion in her practice.
